About From Papa's Kitchen to You

Cooking in Grandma's kitchen since he was a boy, Ennio Bonifazi, Papa, knows how to give meals a special touch. He uses only fresh ingredients and family secrets in his dishes. When Papa was a boy living in Rome, his Nonna use to teach him her favorite recipes in her small but powerful kitchen. In 1967, he took these recipes to Denver with him and opened a restaurant near DU called La Fontanella. After many years of success he decided to retire. However, after encouragement from his daughter-in-law he decided to join with her in bringing his talent to your table.


Pauline, on the other hand, was born in Texas and moved to Colorado in Elementary School. She still has the love of the Southern style cooking she was raised on. "Mom always had a hot dinner ready for us kids at 5:30. We sat together every night as a family." Dinner time was special and it was a priority. families weren't as busy then."


Pauline has been benefiting from Ennio's wonderful cooking for 20 years. She came up with the idea after many nights when Ennio would stop by with a pot full of his delicious Pot Roast or a platter full of breaded veal and pasta. After a day of shuffling the children from school to practices, these unexpected dinners were a life saver. It gave her more time to spend with her family. She actually started sitting down with her children and her husband for dinner. She decided that everyone should have this luxury.
