Seven hundred acres comprise the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield, featuring 10 acres of sprawling wetlands, a gurgling stream, a dry land garden and much more. Visitors also may enjoy a look at a historic one-room schoolhouse as well as an early 20th-century farmhouse, both of which proffer a glimpse into life in Colorado in centuries past. The gardens are a part of the Chatfield Lake State Recreation Area, found on the southernmost edge of Denver's suburbs.
